Päivi Salonen, MSc (Tech.), has been appointed as the CEO and Shopping Centre Director of Mall of Tripla. She will take up her duties in June. Kati Kivimäki, the current CEO, will become Managing Director of the Finnish Elite League, the top professional ice hockey league in Finland.

Päivi Salonen has broad and varied experience in the real estate sector. She has previously worked for nearly ten years for the real estate investment unit of Ilmarinen Mutual Pension Insurance Company, where she was responsible for major commercial sites in Helsinki city centre, including the Kämp Galleria shopping centre.

Salonen has broad and varied experience in urban centre development, and she specialises in the development of commercial facility concepts and the customer experience. Salonen has also been a member of Tripla’s Board of Directors almost since the beginning, which is why she has a strong vision for the mall’s future.

I’m looking forward to delving deeper into Tripla’s operations and getting to know tenants better. Now that the pandemic is finally beginning to be over, we will be able to fully benefit from all the opportunities offered by Tripla,” says Salonen.

Salonen has a clear vision of effective commercial concepts and special expertise in improving customer satisfaction. In her previous job, she was also involved in hotel and office projects.

I have the pleasure of welcoming Päivi Salonen to Tripla’s management. I would also like to thank Kati Kivimäki and the entire Tripla team for their excellent work during Tripla’s successful launch and first years of operation,” says Kenneth Nyman, Chair of Tripla’s Board.

Tripla is the busiest mall in Helsinki and the best shopping centre in Finland

Despite the pandemic, Mall of Tripla – the largest shopping centre in the Nordic countries – achieved a record result. Its total sales in 2021 were higher than ever before, at EUR 254 million, with an increase of more than 14% year-on-year. Its total number of visitors in 2021 was more than 18.4 million, which is higher than in any other shopping centre in Helsinki. Its number of visitors grew by more than 5% on the previous year.

Mall of Tripla was selected as Finland’s best shopping centre at the Nordic Council of Shopping Centres (NCSC) Awards in March. The NCSC’s Best Shopping Centre Award is granted annually as recognition for exceptional and inspiring operations that lead the way in the entire shopping centre sector.

Mall of Tripla is also an official partner of the Ice Hockey World Championships in Helsinki in May. During the tournament, Tripla will have the world’s largest Fan Zone, where visitors can watch all of Finland’s matches and enjoy the atmosphere.
